Greek Sculpture

Greek art was different from all art previous to it. It was much more realistic but that is not the only difference. Greek sculpture was meant to imply motion, in direct opposition to the staticness o Egyptian and Near Eastern art. Greek sculpture was meant to capture a moment in time usually right before the performance of an action. It was meant to be viewed from multiple angles and would go out in several directions. Greek sculpture brought sculpture out of symbolic works and into almost photographic sculptures.
